|About the Book|
This book is very outdated. I couldnt believe what I was reading! The author gives a brief explanation about self abuse and then goes to say that the cause is probably membership in a gang (????) which practices self abuse and that even though the boy knows the practice is wrong, he goes along with it in order to be a part of the group. Whatttt?!?! Oh, another example is that the author insists that girls be taught to be as clean and dainty as possible and to make sure they dont offend their future husbands, who feel a revulsion towards their wives when they leave their feminine products where others may see them- this could linger much to the detriment of the marriage. The author also gets hung up when referring to a bathroom instead of a restroom which Im still confused about. Ok, youre not bathing, but youre not resting either... Anyways, very very outdated but it did give me an idea of how to go about teaching children about sex. He breaks it into age groups and gives examples of how much (or less) to explain depending on the question and age or maturity of the child, from ages 2-teenager. I love how he teaches to focus on the beauty and spiritual part and to present it in a happy, joyful, this-isnt-gross-or-scary-or-secret-taboo way.
